Isolator Servicing Support

GMP Annex 1

We test your isolators to the requirements of GMP Annex 1 (2022 revision) for Grade A environments. Six-monthly requalification and traceable documentation support your contamination control strategy and keep your isolators inspection-ready.

BS EN ISO 14644

We carry out classification, particle count and leak testing in line with BS EN ISO 14644 Parts 1, 2, 3 and 7. We test containment integrity to ISO 10648-2, the standard for containment enclosures.

QAAPS Compliant

Our testing, servicing and reporting help aseptic preparation units meet Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services: Standards (5th edition). All tests are carried out with calibrated test instruments.

Isolator Servicing Explained

How often should an isolator be serviced?

Isolators should be serviced and requalified at least every six months. GMP Annex 1 (C(2022) 5938 final) sets a maximum six-month interval for requalifying Grade A zones.

QAAPS (5th edition) applies the same expectation to aseptic preparation units. We schedule visits around your production runs and planned shutdowns to minimise downtime.

What does an isolator service include?

An isolator service checks electrical function and unit condition, and replaces consumable parts. Engineers calibrate the digital depression and flow gauges, then set operating conditions and differential pressures.

Testing covers pressure and flow monitoring, the classification leak test, inlet filter particle counts, breach velocity through the glove ports and an inlet filter aerosol challenge. Every visit ends with a summary service report.
Learn More About Isolators

Is the document received suitable for MHRA inspections, QP release and internal audits?

Customers will receive a comprehensive service or validation report documenting all testing carried out along with the methods used to calculate results and workings. This is provided back to the customer as the original paper documents, wet signed and dated in the DD-MM-YYYY format.

When provided in this format the documents remain compliant to MHRA audit standards making them suitable for internal processes.

FAQs

What is included in an isolator service?

Isolator servicing includes gauge calibration, differential pressure set-up, leak and particle testing, a glove port breach velocity check and an inlet filter aerosol challenge test.

What is GMP Annex 1?

GMP Annex 1 is the EU and UK guidance for manufacturing sterile medicinal products. The 2022 revision requires a contamination control strategy and sets requalification intervals for Grade A environments, including isolators.

What is the difference between Isolator servicing and validation?

Servicing maintains the isolator and replaces consumable parts. Validation confirms the isolator meets the required standards and documents the results for audit.
